Shea is a native of KC and has spent her life chasing things that enliven and amaze her. After many years in the non-profit industry (everything from providing continuing education to judges to working with sexual assault survivors) in Reno, she and her family returned home to KC. Shea then returned to Rockhurst University to finish her undergraduate degree in Economics. Capitalizing on the momentum, she went on to achieve her MBA the following year (while working full-time and taking care of her family).
Amazing and enriching experiences have surrounded her life’s trajectory. In 2001, she became a doula (professional childbirth assistant). Shea honors this avocation by attending one birth per year, free of charge. She even managed to “catch” her youngest nephew when the midwife was delayed. In 2005, she found another avocation in feng shui
. She currently teaches for UMKC’s Communiversity program. Her latest avocation is participating in triathlons – completing in three events in 2016. In her spare time, Shea is the Chair of the Roeland Park Community Events Committee and President of the Roeland Elementary PTA.
Her real love is her family. Her husband, Geoff, and son, Max, are the gifts that continue to enliven, inspire and amaze her.
Shea is currently a Classroom Instructor and available to tutor at our Mission Office Mondays & Tuesdays from 3:30-7:00PM, Thursdays from 3:30-6:00PM, and Sundays from 10:00AM-3:00PM.
