You ask, we answer

These 12 questions cover the most common inquiries we frequently encounter from both parents and students.

We recommend that everyone begins their process with a Practice Test. Just like it’s difficult to follow a map to a destination without knowing where you are to begin with, so too is it with prep. We want to help each student establish a good baseline from which to begin their unique journey to the testing goals.

We offer free, full-length, proctored practice ACT tests every Saturday morning at both our Leawood and Prairie Village locations. Tests begin at 8:45 AM and end around 12:15 PM. Registration closes 48 hours before each test.

A Scoresback Appointment is a time for you to sit down and discuss your scores with an experienced member of our staff. If you have taken practice tests in our office, we will have those tests graded for you and will talk through them. If you have taken an official test, you can bring that score with you and we will go over it instead.

They are a great opportunity to ask any questions you have about the tests and test preparation. Scoresback Appointments usually take 30-60 minutes. After you have taken a Pretest with us, we will contact you to set-up the next step.

It is your responsibility to register for the official ACT. Although we would love to do it for you, the process involves us knowing some pretty confidential information (i.e. your SSN). If you do not take the test you’re doing all this prep for it is very likely that your score will be impacted negatively. To register for the official ACT on the ACT website, click here.

We stay up to date on all official test dates. The best way to see upcoming ACT and SAT dates is on our Test Dates page. We recommend signing up for a free practice test so we can help you choose the best official test date for your schedule and goals.

Academic Mentorship Tutorials will help a student identify their learning style and apply that information to all of the areas they will need for high school and beyond: role taking, general test preparation, homework planning, etc.  Students can also spend time building their reading comprehension, developing writing skills, and, of course, learning strategies and techniques for time management – perhaps the biggest obstacle in achieving student success. We will help your student learn to perform better in school, all while having less stress because he or she has a plan of action.

We offer Academic Mentorship for students who are 13 to 24 years of age. Tutorials can be scheduled throughout the year – but they are typically planned on a semester basis.

Academic Mentorship sessions are billed by the hour at the rate of $100/hr.

‘Semester-Long’ Academic Mentorship Tutorials will receive a 20% discount.

One-on-one Tutorials can be customized for students at any point in their academic career – high school through college. To register for an Academic Mentorship, or to learn more about how we can help, please email enrollment@getsmarterprep.com or call (913) 322-3400.
